Coastal economies — from the Caribbean to Costa Rica to Florida and the Gulf — face two structural infrastructure gaps at once: a shortage of dependable fresh water, and a shortage of firm renewable electricity that doesn’t depend on diesel imports or storage an island grid can’t afford.
Conventional planning treats these as separate problems. We build them as one project.
Unfolding photovoltaic array with 240 high-efficiency modules, up to 140 kWp peak output per unit. Telescoping deployment in five hours or less by a trained crew of three to four. No excavation required for most island and coastal sites.
Uses that brine as fuel. The salinity gradient between concentrated brine and treated freshwater drives an osmotic generator (PRO or nanofluidic INOD), producing 24/7 baseload electricity — no fuel cost, no combustion, no storage required.
Two costs (brine disposal + auxiliary electricity) become one integrated asset. The brine the desalination plant used to pay to discharge now powers the desalination plant — and the surrounding grid.
For island and coastal jurisdictions, osmotic power is not competing against mainland grid solar. It is competing against diesel at $200–$400/MWh and against solar-plus-battery configurations whose storage budgets break at island scale.
The technology is no longer theoretical. Fukuoka, Japan opened the world’s first full-scale osmotic plant in August 2025, co-located with a desalination facility. France’s OPUS-1 on the Rhône delta has been running since 2024 with a 500 MW long-term target. Denmark’s SaltPower demonstrates the brine-only model. Mystic Energy tracks each operating plant continuously and incorporates field performance into project-level due diligence.
We act as the integrator: project developer, advisor, and capital partner. Our work spans:
We do not manufacture membranes. We bring the right vendors, the right capital, and the right project structure to coastal developers, utilities, and sovereigns.
